Symposium on International Automotive Technology (SIAT) went live this morning at a ceremony participated by several dignitaries including Sanjay Mitra, Secretary- Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Govt. of India, Rajan Wadhera, President- ARAI, President & Chief Executive- Truck and Powertrain, Head- Mahindra Research Valley, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, Vikram Kirloskar, Vice President- ARAI, Vice Chairman- Toyota Kirloskar Motors, Murli Iyer, Executive Advisor- Global, SAE International, R K Malhotra, President- SAE India, T Mookiah, Associate Director (R&D) VSSC and Deputy Director, VSSC (AVN), Sanjay Bandopadhyaya, CEO & PD – NATRiP and Rashmi Urdhwareshe, Director- ARAI.
The 15th edition of the biennial international event organised by ARAI along with SAE India, SAE International and NARTiP, severed as an important forum for sharing ideas and knowledge concerning promising areas of automotive engineering and technology. The four-day event had 180 exhibitors from both India and overseas, showcasing Automotive Products, Equipment, Services and Technology Solutions. During the four days over 200 technical papers, including 40 keynotes, on various subjects are expected to be presented.
As part of the event the organisers have flagged off an electric two-wheeler that is powered by lithium ion battery developed by ISRO. According to ISRO officials the battery can be fully charged within two hours and can give a maximum range of about 110 km, in a single charge.
